iMMAP Generalist: Washington D.C.

The iMMAP Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for establishing and providing a full range of human resource functions required to create a secure and supportive work environment for all staff and consultants working in iMMAP’s Washington, D.C. and international field locations to further the organization’s mission.

The iMMAP Human Resources Generalist will balance their role of contributing to the development of a high performance culture that emphasizes learning, empowerment, collaboration and innovation while always keeping an eye toward maintaining regulatory compliance and managing organizational risk.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Recruitment & Selection

  • Coordinate all aspects of the recruitment process, including job posting, resume screening, interviewing, background checks, issuing contracts, onboarding and pre-employment orientation.
  • Ensure compliance with all labor laws in local offices and central iMMAP policies.
  • Ensure completion of reference checks.

Policy Development and Implementation

  • Lead development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, including preparation of employee handbooks, benchmarking against international non-governmental organization industry standards.
  • Manage and enhance employee and consultant performance evaluation policies and procedures.
  • Provide training on policies and monitor compliance.

 Liaison and Coordination

  • Advise and coach senior project managers, and serve as the point of contact for staff and consultants around the world on all human resource related matters including hiring, termination, dispute resolution, performance evaluations, recruitment, employee relations, benefits and organizational policy.
  • Support and coordinate disciplinary processes, terminations, employee complaints and legal actions.
  • Create and implement workplace initiatives to support employee wellbeing and motivation and promote a positive corporate culture.

Benefit Management

  • Annually review personnel compensation and develop strategies.
  • Manage the full range of employee and consultant benefits, and provide advice and guidance both domestically and internationally.

 

General Administration

  • Ensure comprehensive administration and records management for human resources activities.
  • Coordinate IT resources for new hires.
  • Manage vendor contract companies to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and optimal use of services.
  • Assist in processing of bi-monthly payroll.
  • Provide proof of employment letters for staff and consultants.

CHAIN OF COMMAND

The iMMAP Human Resources Generalist is a stand-alone position reporting to the iMMAP Chief Executive Officer. He/ she works in close consultation with the iMMAP Chief Operations Officer, Regional and Country Representatives and Program Managers, as well as with iMMAP central Communications, Administration/Finance, Business Development, and Security Managers.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of continuous HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist capacity.
  • Experience of coordinating and supporting HR activities including recruitment and benefit management.
  • Familiarity with job posting boards and recruitment sites such as Linkedin, Indeed, and Relief Web.
  • Willingness to travel to country offices on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to apply discretion and handle sensitive confidential information.
  • Experience working in non-profit and International NGO experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple and competing demands.

  • Fluency in English required; multi-language a plus.

iMMAP Information Management Officer: Syria

iMMAP is looking for an Information Management Officer (IMO) for a 3 month position Syria. The IMO will assist in mapping the assistance coverage, analyze and report the gaps. They will work directly with the Coordination Advisor.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and consolidate data from various partners, prepare and submit reports on regular basis;
  • Manage, analyze, document data and information from INGOs interventions in N-East Syria;
  • Map assistance coverage in Al-Hasakeh, analyze and report the potential gaps;
  • Produce, share maps illustrating scale/coverage of assistance;
  • Record, document and share coordination meeting minutes;
  • Maintain data bases, provide data entry if required;
  • Establish and maintain filing and documentation system accessible for humanitarian partners working in Al-Hasakeh;
  • Assist Coordination Advisor in various coordination tasks, as required;
  • Adhere to all MC policies and procedures as outlined in MC policies and procedure manuals;
  • Conduct herself/himself both professionally and personally in respect to humanitarian principles and INGOs code of conduct;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of work experience, including experience in data management, information management or any other related field is a must;
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred;
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods;
  • Excellent skills in Excel are a must;
  • Knowledge of a database such as MS Access and statistical analysis software such as SPSS or other similar programs, required;
  • Demonstrated attention to details, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members is required;
  • Demonstrated skills in GIS mapping software such as ArcGIS;
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, analyzing and reporting;
  • Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel, as well as with project partners and community members;
  • Excellent in written and spoken English, Arabic and Kurdish will be an advantage; and,
  • Good writing and reporting skills.

Critical Success Factors:

The successful Information Management Officer will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated attention to details, will be committed to work long hours in field conditions, with limited access to resources. S/he will have excellent computer skills, will be able to comfortably communicate in English (both in writing and speaking). S/he will be highly motivated, with initiative and capable to work without direct supervision. S/he will be willing to conduct field travels and work in ethnically and culturally diversified team.

iMMAP Information Management Officer: Nigeria

iMMAP is looking for multiple skilled Information Management Officers (IMO) with past work experience in emergency settings for 9 month positions in Nigeria. The incumbent will provide technical assistance to clusters and their members with regard to data collection, its processing, management, mapping and reporting. Under minimum supervision, the candidate will be dedicated to one of the following clusters/sectors: Health, Nutrition, Food Security, WASH, Protection, Shelter/CCCM/NFI, Coordination. He/she will ensure that information management products are timely delivered and of highest quality.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Cluster Co-Leads and under the administrative oversight of iMMAP’s Programme Manager, the IMO will provide support with data collection, vetting, cleaning and processing, database development and/or maintenance, GIS mapping, data analysis and reporting, infographic design, website design and/or administration, training of junior staff and any other required support for the benefit of sectors and the humanitarian community. Tasks include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Collect 4/5W data from partner organizations in a consistent and compatible format, enabling information sharing and analysis;
  • Consolidate and perform quality control on data collected;
  • Develop and administer relevant datasets and/or databases including content, structure, file location, backup system, using accepted international standards;
  • Generate maps, reports and other information graphics to support planning and decision-making;
  • Provide technical support to the assigned cluster/sector in information management and data analysis;
  • Ensure timely dissemination of necessary information to UNOCHA, cluster members and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure continuous communication with other clusters/agencies IMOs for enhanced coordination and mapping of humanitarian response activities;
  • Develop simple, user-friendly data reporting tools, in consultation with supervisors; ensuring sex, age and vulnerable groups disaggregation are taken into account;
  • Train and promote the use of standard agreed-upon tools among cluster members;
  • Ensure the use and application of appropriate information technology in daily tasks;
  • Reinforce the IM capacity of partners;
  • Represent the cluster in meetings; and,
  • Perform any other duty as requested and assigned by the supervisors.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science or other relevant field; and,
  • A first level university degree combined with an extensive relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a university degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum Five (5) years of work experience in the field of Information Management;
  • Thorough knowledge of the UN cluster system and how it operates;
  • Relevant experience in working with the UN or other humanitarian organizations in emergency setting;
  • Experience in emergency relief management and field coordination;
  • Experience using ArcGIS and Adobe Suite software;
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite (with emphasis on data manipulation in MS Excel or MS Access); and
  • Fluency in English is essential (written and spoken).

iMMAP Information Management Officer: Iraq

The Information Management Officer manages Information Management activities under the guidance and supervision of the iMMAP Country Representative. The assigned tasks are as follows:

Coordinate the efforts to build a national staff trained to be able to fulfill the information management tasks and activities.Plan, coordinate and deliver Advance training in GIS and related information management systems and processes at required levels.Coordinate all MIS activities, with support of National Information Officer, with all relevant Iraqi counterparts, making sure that all operational, planning and capacity building goals are consistent with the broad objectives of the government of Iraq. Lead and supervise the development of country base map of Iraq as it relates to mine contaminations and ERW data and coordinate with ministry of Environment.
Lead and supervise the development of Standard Working Procedures (SWP) related to the use and maintenance of GIS and data sharing.
Work with national authorities to liaise with all accredited Mine Action stakeholders in Iraq to ensure a consistent and smooth flow of information into and out-of the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA).
Work with Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency (IKMAA) and IM staff to liaise with all accredited Mine Action stakeholders in Iraq to ensure consistently accuracy and complete mine and ERW data.
Coordinate the activities of information management officer assets to ensure the quality and efficiency of all Regional Mine Action Centers (RMAC).
Assist in the identifying of capacity requirements on an annual base as it relates to information management implementation.
Prepare dynamic and statistic maps for analyzing mine action data and produce statistic reports based on GIS.
Design new GIS tools to support planning section with prioritizing of Landmine/ERW contamination area.
Lead efforts to development of information management strategy for GIS section for Iraq and provide technical support to improve iMMAP GIS tools.
Under the supervision of Country Representative, will provide technical assistance for compiling of transparency report.
Improve capacity building for IM staff and prepare required GIS training packages for IKMAA to support decision makers.
Support ministry of environment with data analysis for natural disaster and integrating mine action data to show environment affect and size of threats.
Prepare monthly Reports and Maps concerning all information management activities performed during the reporting month and activities planned for following month and submit it to Country Representative.
Design online tools and support designing dynamic maps based on mine action data.\Work to improve iMMAP online databases and iMMAP reporting too with new requests from UN and national authority.
Any additional tasks requested by the Country Representative.

Required skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of database, GIS software, computer networks, related hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • Good Geographical knowledge and methods for describing the location and distribution of land, sea, and air masses including their physical locations, relationships, and characteristics.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming theory and relational database principles.
  • Effective communication, written, oral, and cartographic (- The ability to convey GIS/spatial information to non-GIS/technical people) skills.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills with the ability to solve problems using the web application programming suit.

 

Required Academic Qualifications and Experience

·         University Degree in the field of Information Technology, Information Management or Computer Sciences.

·         At least 3 – 5 years of working experience with programming and GIS on field operational level within a multi-cultural environment.
