Carlos is a multimedia journalist with long experience in implementing communication strategies for development and emergency programs across the world. He is the iMMAP´s Global Communications Manager, currently based in Madrid, Spain.
Before joining iMMAP in 2017, he spent several years in the Asia-Pacific region working in disaster response projects, such as Typhoon Haiyan recovery program in The Philippines as communications lead, and Typhoon Maysak Reconstruction Program in the Federated States of Micronesia, where he developed the communications and public information strategy for IOM and USAID. As part of this role, he actively participated in field missions and led shelter distributions across the island nation, in addition to developing a wide range of communications and community outreach products.
Before his deployments in Asia-Pacific, Carlos worked in the headquarters of the Netherlands Development Organization -SNV, where he implemented the digital communications strategy. He also worked as a journalist in print and digital media earlier in his career.
Carlos has a Master’s degree in International Relations from Queen Mary University of London, and a bachelor's degree in Media and Journalism. His geographical and professional experience includes Spain, United Kingdom, USA, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Federated States of Micronesia and Philippines.
