Francesco Baldo is the Global Manager for the COVID-19 Situation Project based in Rome, Italy. He provides oversight and coordination support to all country field activities as a part of the project.
Francesco has 25 years of experience in the humanitarian aid sector working with various INGOs and UN agencies. He started his humanitarian career working with CEFA (European committee for agricultural training) where he later became the country director in Somalia. Francesco later joined FAO, where he worked in various positions for over 12
years in the thematic areas of Food Security and Livelihoods, Agriculture and coordination. After FAO, Francesco joined UNDP as the Early recovery cluster coordinator on the Whole of Syria crises.
Throughout his career, he has a proven track-record of cluster coordination and actively participated in 2012 with the merger of the Agriculture and Livelihoods Cluster and the Food Assistance Cluster, led by WFP, into the Food Security Cluster, co-chaired by FAO and WFP. In September 2016, Francesco was appointed the Early Recovery Sector Coordinator for UNDP based in Turkey where he worked on the Syria crises moving between Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, and Iraq until August 2019.
Francesco holds a Bachelor of Business and Administration in project management from the Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica. Currently, he is pursuing a Master in Food Security and Human Development in Roma 3 University in Italy.
