Kedir Shemsu is an information management officer seconded to UNHCR to support the Protection and CCCM Clusters in Tigray. He is responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing data for the clusters to support the coordination of planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of activities.
Prior to his current position, Kedir was an IMO seconded by iMMAP to UNHCR and the Protection Cluster in Afghanistan for nearly three years. Kedir has over 11 years of experience in the field of GIS working with several UN Agencies such as WFP, FAO and UNICEF as well as academia.
Kedir holds a Bachelor Degree in Applied Geography from the University of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, a Graduate Degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Applied Sciences of Berlin in Germany, and a Master’s Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies Specialization in Climate Change and Adaptation from the University of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. He is fluent in English and Amharic.
