iMMAP Afghanistan Delivers GIS Training to Afghan Government Members

August 13, 2018, Kabul From August 4th to August 8th, iMMAP in collaboration with IOM, delivered a comprehensive workshop for key provincial members of the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority -ANDMA on GIS-related topics, such as introduction to GPS and utilization of Garmin tools, Google Earth Pro functionalities, iMMAP´s Afghanistan Spatial Data Center, QGIS software and ArcMap software.

During the five-day training, iMMAP shared operational knowledge on geographic data visualization methodologies through the use of new technology.

We worked towards enhancing the ANDMA provincial staff technical skills and the capacity to prepare and respond to natural disasters, with a special focus on incident management systems.

The workshop concluded with the closing remarks from His Excellency Mr. Najeeb Aqa Fahim, Afghanistan Minister of State for Disaster Management, Mr. Laurence Hart, Chief of Mission of IOM, and Mr. Ahmed Bayomie, Senior IMO at iMMAP Afghanistan.

As part of the USAID-funded DRR program, iMMAP Afghanistan is committed to training key governmental partners. iMMAP will continue supporting ANDMA through 2018 and 2019 with Information Management services and capacity building activities.
