The Information Management (IM) Cluster Support project now boasts a team of 24 IM Officers, developers, and a capacity-building unit, stationed in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa. Built upon the ActivityInfo (AI) platform, the Cluster IMOs under the guidance and support of the OCHA IM Team developed data collection forms and facilitated the migration of data from cluster templates into AI to establish a robust ‘Who is Doing What, Where, When, and for Whom’ (5Ws) monthly reporting system. 1. Coordinated Needs Assessments, which allows organizations to accurately assess the humanitarian landscape and pinpoint the most urgent needs of affected populations.

2. Effective Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) practices, which help to ensure that humanitarian projects achieve their intended impact and allow for quick adjustments when necessary. In Ukraine, where resources are stretched thin, and needs are vast, efficient and impactful project implementation is crucial.

\nAs the conflict in Ukraine continues with no clear end in sight, our approach to Capacity Building is an innovative response to the unique challenges posed by the ongoing conflict. Through equipping local organizations with essential skills in these areas, the program is not just imparting knowledge but also building a sustainable foundation for humanitarian response. Despite his extensive humanitarian experience in various African and Asian countries, he found the task ahead in Ukraine demanding. His responsibilities involved expanding and restructuring the Cluster, which had been established since 2014 but was only operational in two Eastern regions, and enhancing coordination among partners.\n\nRecognizing the need for robust information management (IM) support to meet these goals, FAO approached iMMAP Inc., which had previously supported the FSL Cluster via the Standby Partnership Programme (SBP), and requested a specialist’s deployment. In 2020, the first iMMAP Inc. IMO was deployed – initially an international professional, then followed by a national IMO.
