On October 10 and 11, 2024, iMMAP Inc. brought stakeholders together to review the support provided through the ‘Coordination, Information Management (IM), and Capacity Building Services in Support of Humanitarian Actions in Nigeria’ project implemented in the northeast region of the country, covering Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states in the 2023/2024 project cycle. The workshop also provided an opportunity to present a roadmap for the expansion of the support to the northwest region, to cover the states of Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara in the following phase of the project. This project is funded through the generous support of the American people, provided by the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).

The two-day workshop was attended by representatives from the federal and state governments , United Nations agencies, including sector coordinators, working group and area of responsibility leads, national and international non-governmental organizations operating in the northeast and northwest regions, academia, donors (including representatives from the USAID BHA), as well as the iMMAP Inc. team in-country and from the headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Opening the event, William Barron, iMMAP Inc. CEO expressed his appreciation to the stakeholders for attending the event, reiterating iMMAP Inc.’s commitment to fostering design and development of innovative IM solutions that facilitate the use of evidence to inform principled and coordinated humanitarian action.

In northwest Nigeria, humanitarian needs emerge from armed banditry, insecurity, poverty, and competition over natural resources that culminates in farmer-herder clashes. During the event, iMMAP Inc. outlined an operational roadmap for providing IM solutions to strengthen coordinated humanitarian action in the region.
iMMAP Inc. has been providing IM support to partners responding to the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria since 2016 in the BAY states. In the 2024/2025 project phase, the support model in the northeast will be scaled up, with a footprint in Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara states in the northwest region.
Project Overview: Coordination, Information Management and Capacity Building Services in Support of Humanitarian Action in Nigeria
iMMAP Inc. provides much-needed services across the three states. These services include thematic humanitarian IM and capacity-building support to our partners: OCHA, sectors and areas of responsibility, working group members, the Borno State Agency for the Coordination of Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Response (BoACSDHR), the Adamawa State Planning Commission, and the Yobe state Information Technology Development Agency.
iMMAP Inc. also extends its support to academia through its Capacity Building and Internship Programs, working in partnership with the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) in Borno State, the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola, Adamawa state, and the Yobe State University (YSU) in Damaturu, Yobe State.
