Heavy rains on October 4 triggered severe flooding across various areas in Jamaame district and its surroundings, in the state of Jubaland, Somalia. This marked the onset of the Deyr (October to December) rainy season, anticipated to bring above-normal rains and flooding due to El Niño conditions.
This document assesses the needs of the population affected by the floods. The assessment was conducted from December 9 to 11, 2023. It involved 14 interviews with key informants at the site level, covering a total of 5 sites. The results are considered indicative, highlighting the urgent need for humanitarian response in the affected areas.
