Colombia: tracking of venezuelan migrant population connections in Facebook

The main objective of this document is to present the variations in the Facebook connections of the refugee, migrant and returning population from Venezuela in Colombia between January-May 2020 and 2021, periods in which it is evident: a) the migratory dynamics prior to the declaration of the pandemic by COVID-19, b) the effects of the first general quarantines and c) the changes during the relaxation of the confinement measures and the mobilizations due to the protests related to the National Strike in the country.

El objetivo principal de este documento es presentar las variaciones de las conexiones a Facebook de la población refugiada, migrante y retornada desde Venezuela en Colombia entre enero-mayo de 2020 y 2021, períodos en los que se evidencia: a) la dinámica migratoria previa a la declaración de la pandemia por la COVID-19, b) los efectos de las primeras cuarentenas generales y c) los cambios durante la flexibilización de las medidas de confinamiento y las movilizaciones por las protestas relacionadas al Paro Nacional en el país.
