Alex is an information management officer based in Cameroon. He is responsible to provide IM support to OCHA and various humanitarian coordination mechanisms at a national and regional level.
Alex has extensive experience working in remote sensing and geospatial information systems (GIS). Prior to joining iMMAP, Alex worked with the Wildlife Conservation Society for nearly three years as a GIS, IT and remote sensing specialist. Prior to that, he was with the Center of Parasitology and Schistosomiasis for nearly three years as a GIS and Database manager. He further worked for the Central Bureau of the Census and Population studies for nearly a year as a team leader for census mapping.
Alex holds a Bachelor´s Degree in Geography, Planning and Environment, as well as another Bachelor´s Degree in Cartography, Topography and GIS from the University of Dschang in Cameroon. Alex further holds two Master´s Degrees in Cartography, GIS and Remote Sensing from the University of Yaounde and another in Geography, Planning environment from the University of Dschang in Cameroon. Alex is currently a PhD student studying Geography, Planning and Environment with a focus on accessibility to health facilities at the University of Dschang. He is fluent in French and English.
