Joachim is the Desk Coordinator for Europe, Central Asia and Latin America since September 2023. He is responsible for coordinating project development and program implementation activities in those regions.
Joachim has 17 years of cumulated humanitarian work experience, primarily as operations coordinator in contexts of conflict, epidemics and natural disasters. Throughout his various project management and leadership roles, Joachim has developed expertise in emergency response in complex settings, multi-sector expertise (health, protection, education, basic needs, integrated response), advocacy and humanitarian affairs, access negotiation and field security management. Prior to joining iMMAP Inc., Joachim worked with the EU Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) in Lebanon as Technical Assistant (2018-2020) and in Brussels headquarters as Desk Officer for Nigeria and Yemen (2016-2017). From 2000 to 2016, Joachim was assigned to field postings with various NGOs, largely with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) as Country Director, successively in Kosovo, Indonesia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Angola, Colombia and Egypt.
Joachim holds a Master in Business Management (Honors) from the ICHEC Business Management School in Brussels, Belgium. He also holds a Master in Public Health (Honors) from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium. Joachim's mother tongue is French, he is fluent in English and Spanish, has working knowledge of Dutch and Portuguese (with some refresher), and basic knowledge of Arabic.
