Joseph Kipkorir Maritim joined IMMAP in 2018 as the Project Manager for Third Party Monitoring of ERW Clearance in Iraq.

He has had 27 years of experience in the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in both command and staff duties at various levels rising from junior to senior leadership. His background in the military is Combat and Civil Engineering where he developed a strong background of knowledge in various sectors including both military and humanitarian demining operations, Disaster Management and Peace Support Operations.

He has extensive experience in Mine Action with practical management of Humanitarian Demining Projects in various countries and contribution to both tactical and technical approaches to C-IEDs. He was one of the pioneer officers in the establishment, management and part of the training team of International Mine Action Centre (IMATC) currently Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS) which is building capacities in Mine Action in Africa and beyond since 2005.

The last position Joseph held before joining iMMAP was the management of the Crisis and Disaster Management sector in Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) under KDF. Under his leadership and management, KDF in partnership with Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and other international Partners, built response capacities in the country to Full Operation Capacity (FOC) for USAR and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear and Explosives material (CBRNE).

Joseph holds a bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Diploma in Strategic Studies, Professional Certification in Monitoring and Evaluation, and several professional certificates including International Mine Action Managers and Technical Advisors’. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation.
