Geke is iMMAP's country representative in Ethiopia since June 2023, where she leads projects focused on providing information management support to humanitarian responders. With over a decade of experience in the humanitarian sector, Geke has primarily worked in monitoring and evaluation, accountability to the affected population, as well as consortium coordination and management.
Throughout her career, Geke has collaborated with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) such as ZOA and IRC, and more recently with SOS Children's Villages as the lead of the Dutch Relief Alliance in Ethiopia. Since 2015, she has been based in Ethiopia, while also gaining valuable experience in other countries, including Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, South Sudan, and Pakistan.
Geke holds an MEd in Educational Management from the North West University in South Africa. Additionally, she obtained an MSc in Rural Development and Innovation from Wageningen University in The Netherlands. Geke is fluent in both Dutch and English, enabling her to effectively communicate in multicultural settings. Furthermore, she is actively working on improving her Amharic skills.
